Venice Police arrest a residential burglar that pretended to be a condo maintenance employee

VPD: We arrested Christopher R. Burden (DOB 09/01/87) on Sunday afternoon for a residential burglary committed earlier that day in the 1200 block of Tarpon Center Blvd. The victim called Venice PD after confronting an individual inside their condo. The victim was home at the time of the burglary. When confronted the suspect claimed to be an employee of building maintenance, however the victim personally knows the building maintenance employee. The suspect ultimately fled the area. Officers searching the area located Burden and placed him under arrest after identifying him as the perpetrator. In addition he also ransacked the facility mailroom and stole the contents of several packages. He is currently in-custody at the Sarasota County Jail and charged with two counts of burglary and petit theft related to Venice PD case#22-0104.
