Medical Ethics Prof: ‘Penalize’ Unvaccinated Americans by Raising Hospital Rates, Denying Them Affordable Health Insurance

An NYU “ethics” professor is advocating punishing unvaccinated Americans by making them pay more for hospital bills and insurance.
Appearing with CNN host John Berman, NYU bioethics professor Arthur Caplan said the unvaxxed should be “shamed,” “blamed,” and “penalized” for refusing to go along with mask and vaccine mandates.
CNN’s @JohnBerman: “It’s the unvaccinated who aren’t wearing masks, it’s the unvaccinated who aren’t social distancing, it’s the unvaccinated going to crowded indoor events, so there’s this bizarre irony where the ones who are behaving are the ones being told to behave 10x more" pic.twitter.com/m7e0rbw3PZ

They’ve got to come around. We’re not going to win this war — we’re going to be talking about COVID this time next year if we don’t get more people to do the right thing. So we can’t write them off. We can penalize them more. We can say you will have to pay more on your hospital bill. You can’t get life insurance or disability insurance at affordable rates if you aren’t vaccinated. Those companies should not treat us as equals in terms of what the financial burdens are that that disease imposes.
Caplan went on to say, “It’s the unvaccinated who aren’t wearing masks. It’s the unvaccinated who aren’t social distancing. It’s the unvaccinated going to crowded indoor events… so there’s this bizarre irony where the ones who are behaving are the ones being told to behave 10 times more so.”
The radical NYU professor has previously advocated instituting a two-tier society solution to pressure vaccine-skeptical people to get the vaccine.
During an appearance on CNN last March, Caplan proposed incentivizing vaccine hesitant Americans by offering them the prospect of “freedom.”
“If you promise people more mobility, more ability to get a job, more ability to get travel, that’s a very powerful incentive to actually achieve fuller vaccination,” Caplan explained to host Fareed Zakaria.

Caplan continued “Vaccine passports do require access; it’s hard to impose anything unless you are pretty sure that somebody can get a vaccine. So I think it’ll be a little while before we see this, let’s say within the U.S.”
“But there are going to be communities and areas of the country where it starts to make sense due to high availability of the vaccine to say, ‘you wanna come back to work in person? Gotta show me a vaccine certificate. You wanna go in a bar, a restaurant? Gotta show me a vaccine certificate,’” he added.
