City of Venice advertises the city council seat vacancy and list qualifications

NOTICE OF COUNCIL MEMBER VACANCY IN THE CITY OF VENICE – Council member Brian Kelly resigned his seat on the council effective December 9, 2021. The city council will select a qualified resident for appointment to serve until a successor is elected at the next regular municipal election. The appointment will take place at a special council meeting being held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 1:30 pm. The individual appointed will serve from the date of appointment on January 6, 2022 to the election swearing date of November 29, 2022.

 

Qualifications: Any resident of the city who has been a registered voter in the city for 12 consecutive months prior to December 15, 2021. A resident, for the purpose of qualifying for office, shall be a person whose principal place of physical residence is in the city on a continuing basis. The city council shall be the judge as to qualifications.

 

Process and Deadline: Interested residents who meet the qualifications should submit a resume and cover letter to City Clerk Kelly Michaels by no later than noon on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. These documents may be submitted in person or by mail to the Office of the City Clerk at Venice City Hall, 401 W. Venice Avenue, Venice FL 34285 or via e-mail to [email protected].

 

City of Venice will have each council member submit a replacement for the vacant council seat and put it to a vote on January 6, 2022
