I am hoping you can help me get the word out about an important problem teachers are facing in the Sarasota County Schools. The district and the union are trying to force us to get vaccinated. If we do not get vaccinated we will not be getting any covid benefits that they are providing for the vaccinated employees. I don’t see how this isn’t discrimination and this needs to be changed. If a vaccinated employee comes down with covid, they will get up to 10 days of paid leave for the county. But if an unvaccinated employee comes down with covid, they must use their personal sick days or be unpaid while they are home. Also, vaccinated employees can come into contact with an infected person and will not have to quarantine as long as they show no symptoms. However, if an unvaccinated employee comes into contact, they would need to be quarantined regardless if they are showing symptoms or not.
