Drivers flees police on foot after a crash in Sarasota

#MediaAdvisory: Deputies were contacted to assist the Sarasota Police Department with surveillance efforts on a vehicle in the area of Fruitville and East Roads in Sarasota. As deputies responded, the involved vehicle crashed. The driver fled on foot and was soon apprehended by deputies. The driver, who reported minor injuries, may be involved in an active and ongoing criminal investigation. Detectives transported the individual to our headquarters where he remains. The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
