City of Venice cancels Tuesday waste collection and opens up a sand bag distribution point

Due to inclement weather expected from Tropical Storm Elsa, Venice City Hall and other City buildings will be closed to the public tomorrow, Tuesday, July 6. In the event of Utilities service emergencies like a water line break, residents can call 941-486-2770. This line is designated for emergencies only.
Tuesday’s Planning Commission meeting is canceled.
There will be no residential pickups of trash, recyclables or yard waste on Tuesday. These items will be picked up on residents’ next regularly scheduled pickup day of Friday, July 9. Commercial customers will still be serviced Tuesday.
Limited quantities of sand will be available for residents at Venice City Hall, 401 W. Venice Ave., starting at 4 p.m. today, July 5. Residents must bring their own plastic bags and shovels in order to fill their own sandbags. Limit 5 bags per person.
