Fauci: We Can Get ‘Close to Normal’ NEXT Mother’s Day — But Only If Everyone Gets Vaccinated

Dr. Anthony Fauci said Americans can get “close” to normal by Mother’s Day 2022, but only if the “overwhelming proportion of the population” gets vaccinated.
Talk about moving the goalposts.
In a Sunday interview on ABC’s “This Week”, Fauci explained that COVID-19 is still too scary to celebrate Mother’s Day this year, but next year society will get “close” to normal on the “condition” that most people get the COVID jab.
“Give everyone a sense of what the country’s gonna look like next Mother’s Day,” host George Stephanopoulos told Fauci.

“George, I hope that next Mother’s Day we’re gonna see a dramatic difference than what we’re seeing right now,” Fauci lamented. “I believe that we will be about as close to back to normal as we can — and there’s some conditions to that.”
“We’ve gotta make sure that we get the overwhelming proportion of the population vaccinated,” the NIAID director continued. “When that happens, the virus doesn’t really have any place to go. There aren’t a lot of vulnerable people around. And when there aren’t a lot of vulnerable people around, you’re not gonna see a surge. You’re not gonna see the kinds of numbers we see now.”
This marks a clear departure from his remarks just last week, where the NIAID chief claimed that the U.S. will see a “turning point” in the pandemic in “literally a few weeks.”
Now Fauci’s saying another year until we’re “close” to normal.
Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-Wisc.) noted that during Fauci’s weekend interview circuit, he wasn’t asked a single question about his gain of function research funding to the Wuhan lab in 2015.
“Can someone in the American media please ask Fauci these basic questions,” Gallagher said in a video posted to social media. “[Chuck Todd] asked him about whether seasonal mask-wearing is going to be with us. But didn’t ask him about the origin of the disease.”
Dr. Fauci was just on Meet the Press and @chucktodd didn’t ask him a single question about the origin of COVID-19 and whether taxpayer dollars went to gain of function research in Wuhan.
