Did Venice just lose 250 PGT jobs because of an uncompromising city government?

This was an interesting article that was sent to me by a resident of Venice and former Council Member. It covers PGT, which many of you know is one of the largest employers located in Venice. It appears that PGT has opened a new facility in Lee County, which will house 275 employees, all because the City of Venice has become difficult to work with on permitting issues.
PGT has 3,500 employees, but could have had 3,750 employees if were not for a very uncompromising City of Venice. The article covers that how the City of Venice permitting process is just one thing that brought about the change to look outside of the region for a new office. The Business Observer covered how they tried to contact the Mayor of Venice for comment, but ran into a full voice mail box and no response.
Unfortunately, this has been Feinsod’s approach on many issues, like staying at home and joining meetings via zoom over fear of the Covid. The residents knew that Ron never attending council meetings until he decided to run for Mayor and they still elected him, thinking that he would put an end to all growth, which is virtually impossible with the way the city government is setup. My hope is that the residents will conduct a bit more research during the next election cycle, instead of just voting based upon political party affiliations.
