The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting a shooting investigation

Deputies were called to the area of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Leonard Reid Avenue in Sarasota today at 12:30 p.m., for the report of a vehicle that was shot. Upon arrival, deputies located the involved vehicle. Witnesses on scene advised there were multiple gunshots in the area which led deputies to the area of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Newtown Blvd., where the original shooting is believed to have taken place. There are no injuries and detectives believe this was an isolated incident with no threat to the public.
