Sarasota man arrested after fentanyl and more than 100 grams of marijuana found in backpack  – SPD

Connor T. Smith, age 27, of Fern Avenue, Sarasota, has been arrested and is facing multiple charges in the city of Sarasota.  Sarasota Police officers spotted Smith and knew he had an active felony warrant out of Manatee County.

 

On Tuesday, March 30, 2021, just before 8 p.m., Sarasota Police responded to the 2800 block of North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.  Smith was wanted on an active warrant for a violation of probation for Robbery with a Deadly Weapon and two counts of Aggravated Battery from Manatee County.

 

A search of Smith’s backpack found 115.8 grams of marijuana, two bags of fentanyl powder, one zip lock bag with hard-pressed fentanyl pills, and various drug paraphernalia including an electronic scale, small plastic bags, and cash.  The marijuana and fentanyl were both positive field-tested.

 

Smith was arrested without incident and transported to the Sarasota County Jail.  He’s facing charges of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell (felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance (felony), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (misdemeanor).
