Venice: Stabbing incident at PGT leads to one man being airlifted

Venice Police detectives have arrested Pablo Bautista, 49, of Fort Myers for Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon related to this morning’s stabbing incident at 105 Triple Diamond Blvd. Mr. Bautista is currently being transported from the Venice Police Department to the Sarasota County Jail.
The victim is out of surgery and in intensive care at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The victim is a 39-year-old male tow truck operator. He was stabbed multiple times. No other information will be released on the victim in consideration of Marsy’s Law.
The event is confirmed as being related to a car repossession that turned into an attack upon the tow operator by Bautista, the vehicle owner.
VPD has reopened Triple Diamond Blvd. to traffic and personnel should be clearing the area very soon.

Venice Police and Venice Fire Rescue were dispatched to a stabbing today (Friday 3/12) at 7:45 a.m. at 105 Triple Diamond Blvd. A male victim was transported by AirLife helicopter to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries. A male suspect is in custody at this time. No one else was injured, and there is no additional threat to the community.
The attack in this case began in the parking lot of PGT at 104 Triple Diamond and carried over to the business plaza parking area at 105 Triple Diamond. The stabbing victim escaped from the attack and eventually called authorities from his truck at the corner of Morse Ct. and Triple Diamond Blvd.
At this early point in the investigation it appears the attack may be tied to a dispute over a car repossession. When circumstances are verified, updates will be provided.
The 100 block of Triple Diamond is closed to traffic at this time as detectives and Criminalistics personnel continue to investigate. Please avoid the area if possible.
