North Port man arrested for homicide, after trying to report the murder as a suicide

Clinton Pittman (38) has been charged with Homicide, Tampering with Evidence, and two counts of Possession of Firearm as a Felon.
Tuesday morning NPPD units were called to the 2200 block of Yancy St. in the City of North Port for a possible suicide attempt. Upon arrival a female was located with life threatening wounds. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital where she later died.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to determine that this was not a self-inflicted incident. Pittman is familiar with the victim, and this was not a random act of violence. There is no threat to the nearby community.
