A “sign” of the times: Sarasota County is restoring the watershed!

Excessive freshwater can negatively impact oysters and seagrasses, which are important habitats for sea turtles, manatees, and juvenile fish. Sarasota County Stormwater Utility has developed the Dona Bay Watershed Restoration Program to restore and protect the fragile Dona Bay estuary. So far, over 150 acres of wetlands have been restored and up to 1,380 acres of watershed storage has been created.

Next time you’re at Venice Inlet enjoying a day at the beach, be sure to stop and read the full text of the signs.
