Tree trimming service accident leads to a 700 gallon raw wastewater spill

Incident Description
A tree trimming service performing work on a private residence at 1474 17th Street inadvertently backed over an ARV valve box across the street from the work site. The resident saw the service vehicle hit the valve box and immediately reported the incident to the Utility. Crews responded to the site and turned the release valve off. They were able to contain the spill in the area of the valve box. Approximately 700 gallons of raw wastewater was spilled at the site. Crews were able to recover approximately 400 gallons. The area was treated with lime, hosed down and vacuumed up per City of Sarasota spill response protocols.
