#ScamAlert: Today, detectives received several reports of a possible phone scam involving a caller claiming to be sergeant with our agency. In each incident, the caller left an urgent message for the victims to call back. In the past, victims were told to transfer money to release a relative from jail or clear a warrant.
Remember, no member of our agency will EVER call a citizen and demand any sort of payment over the phone. If you receive a call like this, please contact our non-emergency line at 941.316.1201. Calls like these are SCAMS. Please be aware, and share with others!
