Today, the Venice City Council unanimously approved a revision to the Parks and Recreation City Code that included the following changes to the animal restrictions within three City parks:

• Dogs will now be permitted within the walking trails of Pinebrook Park, 1251 Pinebrook Rd., on-leash only. Dogs are still prohibited from Wellfield Park and all athletic fields.

• Dogs will now be permitted within the parking areas and walking paths of Maxine Barritt Park, 1800 Harbor Dr. S., on-leash only. Dogs are still prohibited from the sandy beach and the beach access boardwalk at Maxine Barritt.

• Dogs will now be permitted within the parking area of Humphris Park, 2000 Tarpon Center Dr., on-leash only. Dogs are still prohibited from the sandy beach and the South Jetty walkway of Humphris Park.

The City reminds dog owners to always clean up after your pet in order to keep our parks beautiful and to protect the environment. Please note that “on-leash” means the animal is fully under the owner’s control and attached by a leash no longer than 6 feet.
