Incident Description
At 8:37 AM on January 18, 2021 the Englewood Water District received a report of a sewer spill in the Boca Royale community. A district employee arrived at the site at 9:15 AM and shut down the Lift stations that were pumping into the main and closed valves on the main to stop the leak. A crack had formed on a 4 inch sewer main. The pipe was repaired and put back into service. We estimate a spill of less than 7,000 gallons of wastewater. Some spilled wastewater made it to a storm water drain and into a retention pond. The pond does not flow into any other bodies of water. The pond is currently being sampled for e.coli. The ground was disinfected with lime and the road was disinfected with chlorine.
