Suncoast Sheriff warns of COVID-19 Vaccination Scams – Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office

From the desk of Sheriff Bill Prummell-

By now, I think it’s safe to say that we are all tired of this pandemic and the impact it has had on our lives. So, when news broke of a vaccine, there was finally a sense of light at the end of the tunnel.

While some people may have reservations about getting vaccinated, others are anxious to get it as soon as possible. Regardless of your beliefs, I am simply going to remind you that whenever there is a need or demand for something, there will be people looking to capitalize on it.

It’s already happened in some areas. Scammers are contacting people, offering a way to get the vaccine early for a fee. I can’t emphasize this enough: there is a limited supply of the vaccine produced so far, and you cannot buy your way to the front of the line. No matter what the scammer tells you, this is just not true. Save your money.

If you are seeking information about vaccinations and availability, please only go to a trusted source such as your doctor or the Department of Health. You can find DOH contact information on their website http://charlotte.floridahealth.gov/.

We are all ready for COVID-19 to end. Please don’t let your frustrations cloud your judgment.

Stay strong, and stay safe!
