SCSO alerts the public about four new sex offenders in Venice, North Port, and Sarasota

 

 

 

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is advising the public that Joel Palmquist, DOB 05/08/58, has registered as a Sexual Offender living in Sarasota County.
Palmquist was convicted in Broward County in 1988 of Sexual Battery/Coerce Child by Adult and sentenced to confinement followed by seven years of probation. He recently relocated and reports his address is 2648 Dalhart Avenue in North Port. Palmquist is not currently under the supervision of the Florida Department of Corrections, and due to the date of his original offense, residency restrictions do not apply.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is advising the public that Jayme Spencer, DOB 05/12/85, has registered as a Sexual Offender living in Sarasota County.
Spencer was convicted in Michigan in 2002 on two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct: Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Penetration. He was sentenced to 300 days in jail followed by 24 months of probation. In 2013, Spencer was convicted again in Sarasota County on single counts of Traveling to Meet a Minor to Commit an Unlawful Sexual Offense and Use of Computer to Solicit a Parent or Custodian to Consent to the Child’s Participation in Sexual Conduct. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by five years of probation. Spencer was recently released and reports his address is 900 University Parkway in Sarasota. He is currently under the supervision of the Florida Department of Corrections and is not allowed to live within 1,000 feet of a school, childcare facility, park or playground.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is advising the public that Mark Proveaux, DOB 01/28/74, has registered as a Sexual Offender living in Sarasota County.
Proveaux was convicted in Sarasota County in 2012 on single counts of Traveling to Meet a Minor to Commit an Unlawful Sexual Offense and Use of Computer to Solicit a Parent or Custodian to Consent to the Child’s Participation in Sexual Conduct. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by two years and six months of conditional release. Proveaux was recently released and reports he is transient living in the area of Packinghouse and Cattlemen Roads in Sarasota. The registration of a “location” and not a physical address is allowable by Florida law for homeless or transient persons, but a transient offender or predator must register their address with the sheriff’s office every 30 days. He is currently under the supervision of the Florida Department of Corrections and is not allowed to live within 1,000 feet of a school, childcare facility, park, playground or bus stop.

McGuigan was convicted in Pennsylvania in 2002 of Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse and sentenced to five to 10 years in prison followed by five years of probation. He recently relocated and reports his address is 1703 Ravinia Circle in Venice. McGuigan is not currently under the supervision of the Florida Department of Corrections, and due to the date of his original offense, residency restrictions do not apply.
