North Port: Watch as the NPPD participates in Shop With a Cop 2020

This year, the North Port Police Department and community partners were able to help make the holidays bright for more kids than ever. Annually, the PD raises funds to take kids in need shopping for the holidays. The need this year is greater than ever. In the past few months we’ve been able to raise enough to take more than 112 kids on a shopping spree. Each child gets a $100 gift card to get items for themselves and others. The children are selected as having a need by the local school guidance counselors.

For the past two nights we’ve been able to interact with our littlest residents and spend time getting to know them, and them us. The excitement continues! We will be at the Walmart here in North Port (17000 Tamiami Trail ) this Wednesday and Thursday night December 16-17, from roughly 6-8pm, if anyone would like to see the magic in action. As a bonus, on Thursday night, North Port Fire Rescue will also be at the Walmart to “Fill the Fire Truck” from 4-7pm.  NPFR will be collecting non-perishable food items for families in need this holiday season. Two stories for the price of one!
