Why is the Covid test site offering me two test and are both results being used towards the state Covid numbers?

I tried to contact my sister who is a registered nurse and conducting Covid testing within Florida.  I wanted to see if they are offering two test and what would the logic be for offering both test.   If both test results (rapid and PCR) are being used for the state numbers, is a question she would not be able to answer.  I am assuming that is something the Florida DOH would have to answer.   My sister did tell me that some locations do conduct or offer both test to individuals.  One concern is that the Rapid test is not accurate, like the PCR.  So, they offer the PCR as backup for the Rapid test. Tithaney’s main concern was if the state is using both test results in their numbers. Frankie

I did ask SCG Emergency Services that has been putting out the daily Sarasota County Covid numbers via twitter.  They said that my question should be directed to the Florida Division of Emergency Management.  I will try to reach out to them and update this page, if they respond.

Good afternoon, not sure if you would like to report this or not…. Monday I went to get tested for COVID-19 at a place in Sarasota off of 34th st. They asked if if I’d like to take 2 different test, one is for the rapid and the other is a 3-5 day test. I said sure, but it got messed up so I only did one lol. Anyway today we went back, they didn’t ask me what I wanted but I heard them ask others (not everyone)….

I wonder if other test sights are doing this and if so, if it’s causing a bigger spike in our numbers. Just something for you to possibly look in to if you want.

Sarasota County Commissioner Ziegler put out yesterday’s numbers, which is below.
