Sarasota’s first watergoat installation is a success, capturing 44 punts of trash

Our first WATERGOAT cleanout was a big success! The device caught over 44 pounds of trash and stopped it from flowing into our precious Sarasota Bay!
Last April, we installed a watergoat device near Sarasota High School in partnership with Sarasota County Government in hopes of collecting trash and improving water quality. Eight SHS students helped with the cleanout this week picking up large Styrofoam pieces, drink containers and large plastic buckets. 70% of the recovered items were recyclable. Great work !
The project was funded through a grant from the Recycling Partnership.
