Longtime Gondolier Sun news editor and reporter Greg Giles was terminated from his position a little over a week ago over what Giles called longtime editorial differences and censorship.

Giles had worked at the Gondolier for over a decade and was an independent, albeit politically conservative, voice at an otherwise left leaning newspaper, he said in a press release issued Nov. 9.

Giles said differences of opinion with the current editor Scott Lawson and the paper’s anti-Trump and anti-conservative positions led to Giles being all but excluded from this year’s election coverage.

He said a disagreement in burying and censoring his articles led to a blowup on Oct. 29, leading to his dismissal.

Giles said his articles were “dumbed down” regularly, and political articles “censored” to remove many references to Trump and DeSantis in particular.

Giles said he also disagreed with owner of the Sun newspapers, Adams Publishing Group, ongoing effort to regionalize the award winning local paper.
