Sewer leak results in 1,500 gallons of raw sewage emptying into south creek in Sarasota

Sunday afternoon, #SRQCountyUtilities on-call staff responded to the report of a sewer leak on Honore Avenue at South Creek. Upon arrival, staff discovered an ARV that appeared to have been hit by a mower. The crew quickly stopped the spill and replaced the ARV. 

 

Approximately 1,500 gallons of raw sewage spilled and entered into South Creek. Staff was unable to recover any of the spill due to the location being next to the creek. Spill sampling is ongoing. Notifications and clean-up are proceeding per protocol. 

 

Bollards will be installed at this location to prevent a similar incident in the future. #srqcountyspillnotice
