SCSO: Six new sexual offenders as well as one sexual predator all registered in Sarasota County over the last three weeks.
SCSO
We have posted the following information several times before, but it never hurts to educate and clarify! If you scroll through our social media channels, it is understandable why you may think Sarasota County has “A TON” of sex offenders and predators. Heck, we must post a new registration at least once a week, but here’s the deal…
– Upon release or relocation, registrants MUST report to their local SHERIFF’S OFFICE meaning offenders aren’t visiting city police departments or any other government facilities to check-in. They are coming SOLELY to our building to report where they are living.
– Our team is utilizing social media as a means of PROACTIVELY sharing new registrations. We are technically only required to notify the public when a new sexual PREDATOR moves to the area however, we go a step further and also announce the registration of every single OFFENDER as well.
– We share these alerts for the purpose of keeping YOU – our citizens – informed. We would rather bring your attention to who is living in your neighborhood than leave you in the dark because we aren’t technically “required” to notify you.
All this to say… despite what it may seem like, we DO NOT have an overabundance of sex offenders and predators in Sarasota County. You just live in a community where your sheriff’s office is on top of it.
So, rather than fill your news feed with multiple posts, we are sharing seven recent registrations in this single post. All these offenders registered with our agency within the last three weeks. For specifics on each offender, click on each photo, and in the meantime, as we approach Halloween and trick-or-treating, please use this opportunity to download the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office mobile app. We are happy to provide you an interactive map that shows who is living in your neighborhood.
Stay safe, stay smart & have a Happy Halloween!
