ICE Forced to Release Hundreds of Criminal Illegals Due to COVID – NewsWars

Hundreds of criminal illegal aliens have been released onto the streets of California under court order due to supposed concerns about coronavirus.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that more than 250 foreign nationals, many with “pending criminal charges and/or convictions,” are once again roaming U.S. communities after being freed from the Adelanto ICE Processing Center.

Warning that Americans could be subjected to “unnecessary victimization by recidivist criminals,” the agency declared its reluctant cooperation with an order issued by the Central District of California to reduce the Adelanto facility’s population from approximately 730 detainees to 465.

“While opponents who continuously seek to discredit the agency might otherwise mislead the public to believe that those in detention pose no risk to public safety, nothing could be further from the truth,” said acting ICE chief Tony Pham.

“ICE has complied with this overreaching court order; however, the public should know that the ruling undoubtedly places them at greater risk.”

At least 60 of the released detainees were facing final orders of removal from the U.S. as decreed by federal immigration judges.

“The criminal histories of those released included, but was not limited to: assault with a deadly weapon, battery, child cruelty, contempt/violating a protected order, domestic violence, disorderly conduct, driving without a license, driving under the influence (DUI), false imprisonment, fraud, hit and run, grand theft, obstructing a police officer, possession of a controlled substance, prostitution, sexual offenses (including lewd/lascivious acts with a child), weapons violations, and the federal offense of illegal reentry after removal,” ICE explained.

The agency asserts it practices stringent testing and follows strict health protocols in order to ensure the safety of inmates and immigration agents, and believes the order unnecessarily places U.S. residents in danger.

“ICE has been placed in a difficult circumstance to comply with a binding order that completely contradicts our duty to this nation,” said Pham.

“These criminal aliens have serious convictions and charges – releasing them is an extremely risky gamble to take with public safety.”
