COVID FACTS – SARASOTA COUNTY (8/3/20):  The numbers are heading downward, so why are cities like Venice continuing to push for mask mandates?

COVID FACTS – SARASOTA COUNTY (8/3/20)

Since Hospitalizations compared to 2 weeks ago came up in another thread, I am posted what was shared on that thread (different feeling compared to what I get when I read local media headlines)

HOSPITALIZATIONS/ICU USE (TOTAL/COVID COUNTYWIDE):

Hospital Beds (in use) = DOWN 181 (⬇️ 18%)
-07/21 = 1005
-8/3 = 824

Hospital Beds (COVID) = DOWN 48 (⬇️ 32%)
-7/21 =152
-8/3 = 104

ICU Beds (in use) = DOWN 22 (⬇️ 23%)
-7/21 = 95
-8/3 = 73

ICU Beds (COVID) = DOWN 15 (⬇️ 36%)
-7/21 = 42
-8/3 = 27

Those numbers aside, I wouldn’t be shocked to see an uptick or for it to go down. No one really knows where we are headed with COVID.

Personally, I believe that COVID is making its rounds through the community and the #1 goal is still to not overrun the hospitals.

As time goes by, more and more friends that I know are testing positive and I suspect there is a good chance I will test positive eventually (I hope I am wrong) over the coming months/years, but I hope by then the hospitals are still in good shape AND that the virus is weaker.

We can all help flatten the curve by social distancing, washing your hands, staying home when sick, wearing your mask when you cannot social distance and being smart & respectful.
