Watch as a vessel in distress is rescued off of Siesta

Air-1 responded to a vessel in distress outside of the Big Pass channel on the evening of Monday, July 6th. When Air-1 arrived on scene, it was clear the vessel had run aground and was being battered by the waves.
A Sarasota County Fire Department rescue boat arrived moments later and it was determined that due to the shallow water, a rescue by boat would not be possible. Air-1 provided aerial coverage as two firefighters walked through the surf to the sailboat, leading two adults and two dogs to safety.
