Venice homeless encampment cooking fire destroys a 5 acre natural habitat

I thought I would share since you post news in the Venice area. If you choose to post I would like to remain anonymous.  I will forward pictures of the destruction that you may also share anonymously.

There was a fire behind the wall at the back of Walmart which they spray-painted.   Once you get behind the wall you will see that the path is littered with garbage, alcohol bottles, bikes, a car radiator and everything else they left after they started the fire.   At the pond  along the shoreline it opens up to the 5 burnt acres.

It’s heartbreaking the destruction caused to the preserve habitat. I used to be a supporter and advocate for allowing the homeless to live peacefully in the preserve but not anymore. This was a 4 alarm fire that destroyed 5 acres, took animals habitats and lives. Not to mention endangered homes in the neighborhood behind Walmart. And when it happened they ran leaving everything behind not thinking to notify even a passerby that a cooking fire was out of control. The only blessing is a shopper walking into Walmart notified an employee.
